ReStaging The Vision
2006
Re-Staging the Vision is a video installation made up of two video projections that performatively respond to one another. Based around the process of re-enacting an apparition of the Virgin Mary, the work draws connections between Catholic kitsch imagery and the exaggerated theatricality of drag cabaret. Taking its form before a vividly painted backdrop, the projected characters alternate between musical numbers and frozen tableaux.
